- Information about NSTP such as the objective of NSTP, National Service Act, training module, training facilities, rules and regulation of postponement, exemption, trainees’ schedule and camps information
- List of forms to be downloaded
- Online checking for selected trainees and trainees’ camp placement

Will this programme disturb or jeopardise the education plan of the affected trainee? |

The Government will minimise the effect on the nation’s education plan. In this PLKN case, the Ministry of Education has streamlined the intake of students into matriculation classes, form six and IPTA. However, if there are cases that qualify for delays, they will be viewed and analysed as to the guide in the National Service Training Act 2003 that allows delays or excuses to further their education. Here the PLKN as much as possible will minimise the effect on the opportunity for the trainee to continue his education. |

Is the PLKN military in nature? |

No. The objective of PLKN is not fulfilled any military needs or the security of the nation as practised in other countries. It stresses on objectives which had been set:
- to inculcate young generation who are patriotic and has love of the nation
- to enhance the unity of the peoples
- to foster concern and volunteerism to serve the society
- to have a young generation who are active, alert and full of self-confidence
- to groom a positive personality among the young generation through accentuating noble values

Who can be exempted from PLKN? |

As to subsection 4(1), only eight categories of participants are exempted from participating in this programme:
- those who are mentally unsound
- those who had been verified by a government Medical Officer to have a physical handicap
- convicts
- those who are detained
- those who are under treatment and recuperating
- those who are detained under the Child’s Act 2001
- those with fatal disease
- those with fatal, infectious disease
However, an applicant/guardian has to make an application for exemption to JLKN with supporting documents. |

In what situations can a trainee delay his participation? |

As to section 20, National Service Training Act 2003, delays are extended only to those falling under these categories:
- those will be sitting for an important examination under the Education Act
- those who are pursuing education in or outside the country
- those experiencing unusual difficulties/problems
Applicants are to apply for delays by using the form that can be obtained from JLKN or download from the website www.khidmatnegara.gov.my. All these cases subjected to verification from the relevant authorities. |

Are the trainees given the freedom to choose his preferred training location? |

Camp allocations are assigned at random in line with the objective of the programme. But JLKN is willing to consider requests for relocation basing on health grounds. But applications/requests are to be made in writing to JLKN with supporting documents for consideration. |

Are the trainees of PLKN well taken care of? |

All PLKN trainees are protected with an insurance master plan during the training stint. Venues of the training stint and the facilites are safe as to specifications. Discipline of the trainers and trainees are given utmost attention. |

Can a person apply to participate in PLKN voluntarily? |

For those not selected but love to participate in the PLKN, can send their requests to JLKN for consideration. |

What is the scope of PLKN training? |

The scope of PLKN training takes three months. There are four modules in PLKN ie physical module, nation-building module, character-building module and community service module. Activities of the physical module include basic drill, high rope, basic self-defence and jungle craft. The Nation-building module covers on history of the nation, sovereignty and honour of the nation and international issues, defence and security of the nation as well as the responsibility of the peoples to the nation. The Character-building module gives emphasis on enhancing honourable values that is all-encompassing, self-confidence and self-evaluation. The Community service module will involve the trainees in activities which involve upgrading of public facilities, taking care of the environment, gotong royong and neighbourliness with volunteerism. |

Is transport arrangement available? |

The department makes readily available transport arrangements from bus terminals, railway stations and airports designated by JLKN to the training camps and vice versa. |
